VPN-Virtual Private Network

เป็นการรีโมทจากต้นทางไปหาปลายทาง เช่นเราอยู่บ้านแต่ต้องการvpnเข้าไปออฟฟิตเสมือนเราทำงานอยู่ที่ออฟฟิตได้

แบ่ง 2 ประเภทใหญ่

1. Remote access VPNs : จะเป็นการเชื่อมต่อ VPN Server กับ VPN Client
2. Site to Site VPNs : เป็นการเชื่อมต่อระหว่าง VPN Server กับ VPN Server ด้วยกัน

Protocol

• Layer 2 Forwarding (L2F)
• Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)
• Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP)
• Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE)

จะอยู่บน Layer 2 ข้อเสียคือช้า และทำให้เกิดการถูกแฮกได้จึงทำให้เกิดบน Layer 3
